Get Tough Program Aims to Curb Drunk Driving

The 24,000 member American Trial Lawyers Association backed a four point plan to remove drunk drivers from the road. It calls for national standards for licenses stronger revocation rules and mandatory use of safety devices. The group says reducing driver risk will require societal inconvenience and cites ongoing crusades against drunk driving.

Seven Arkansas motorists killed on slick state roads

Seven motorists died on Arkansas highways last weekend raising the 1970 toll to 196. The deaths occurred Friday through Sunday in multiple counties including Howard, Texarkana, Pulaski, Fort Smith, and Polk. Victims named include Hertha Mae Burris, J Eskins, Billy Joe Snead, Debra Tucker, Mary Anderson, Henry Walton, and Gene McNutt in various single and two car crashes.

Warm Windy Arkansas With Areas Of Showers

The Weather Bureau forecasts warm windy weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms across Arkansas through Tuesday. A low pressure system from the southern Rockies moving toward Arkansas is expected to reach the state by Tuesday night or Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures.
