Crouch speaks on EFNEP efforts to fight malnutrition
Becky Crouch, area extension home economist nutrition, told the Lions Club that the Cooperative Extension Service advances malnutrition prevention in Arkansas through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Educational Program EFNEP. Nutrition Aides, trained and supervised by the Extension Home Economist, visit eligible families to boost knowledge, skills and attitudes in food selection, buying, preparation and sanitation. EFNEP began in February 1969 in seven counties and expanded to 28, including Hempstead County in March 1970. A youth program drive complements the effort as families and youths are assisted daily.
