Arkansas House OKs Jail Standards Bill and Governor Retirement Plan

James Pilkinton spoke on Historical Washington Arkansas before the Hope Rotary Club on February 23. He described the Pioneer Washington Foundation formed in the 1950s to revive interest in the old town once a key stop on the Old Military Road and the WPA era preservation plans found in Washington, D.C. The Foundation funded by locals began restoration, but managing Old Washington is now heavy. from July 1973 the Arkansas Parks and Publicity Department will take over.
