Last Major Log Drive Down Clearwater River Ends Soon
A 35 million board foot logging drive down Idaho's Clearwater River to Lewiston marked one of the nation’s last great log drives. A 34 worker crew handled jams with pewees and pike poles aboard a Wannigan raft while a floating bunkhouse voyaged upriver. The Potlatch Forests run began in 1929 and will end next year when logs divert through Dworshak dam tunnel then by truck due to dam blockage.
