College degree becomes vital for high earnings rise
An editorial notes recruiting on campuses by firms with the aim to fill jobs before the draft. It cites engineering pay up about 60 percent and non engineers 30 percent, with starting salaries rising 5 to 10 percent. Women’s jobs grow, but the draft looms as a cloud over the gains. Emphasizing education, it argues lifetime earnings soar with higher degrees, with college graduates reaching far higher potential than high school or no diploma.
