Arkansas Weather Forecast Shows 40 Percent Rain Chance

The Associated Press reports a 40 percent chance of precipitation in Arkansas today tonight and Wednesday. The National Weather Service forecasts partly cloudy skies warm and humid conditions through Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms mainly in the area.

Hope Star Weather Update Notes Warm Humid Air Across Arkansas

The bulletin reports a Bermuda high bringing warm humid air, with southerly winds and a weak upper disturbance west of Arkansas. Showers and thundershowers were scattered statewide Monday, northern areas seeing more, no precipitation since midnight, and the forecast calls for slightly warmer temperatures by Saturday with little rain later in the week.

Acid attack suspect sought after string of assaults

Police in Seaford New York hunt an acid sprayer described as a man with a two tone brown getaway car. Six teen girls targeted along Sunrise Highway over a month from Massapequa Wantagh to West Babylon with no serious burns reported. Stephanie Krodman 16 of Massapequa was attacked while in a car with her sister Debbie.

Freshman orientation and regis at Arkansas State Jonesboro campus

Arkansas State University hosted the first of five freshman orientation and registration sessions on the Jonesboro campus drawing 235 high school graduates for the fall semester. Students toured the campus, received advisement, and selected classes with final registration slots on Aug 25 26 or 27 after yearbook photos housing cards and fees. Hope attendees included Larry Butler Anna Cox and John May.

Obituaries Dennis Denk Kispin Richards Dies in Dallas at 60

Dennis Denk Kispin Richards, 60, son of the late Robert L. and Lilla Ham Richards of Hope, died June 10 at his Dallas home after a lengthy illness. A 1933 Hope High School graduate, he earned the Golden Football in senior year for playing football after his hunting accident. He moved to Dallas in 1947, worked 18 years at East Texas Motor Freight, retiring as traffic manager of rates and tariffs. Surviving: wife Jane, son Bob Richards of Dallas, daughter Patricia Jones of Lubbock, granddaughter Hallie, grandson Eric, brother Jack Richards of Connecticut, sisters Vera Rodgers, Lalia Pickard of DeQueen Ark., Goldie Dempses of Kansas, plus nieces and nephews.

Mrs Gandhi barred from Parliament vote in India

Supreme Court justice VR Krishna Iyer barred Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from voting in Parliament while she appeals a 1971 campaign conviction. She may debate as head of government, but cannot be a full member of the legislature. The ruling follows Allahabad verdict findings and delays until the full court rules in July, with a confidence vote by Cabinet colleagues swift.

Record Auction For Hope Baseball Association

Radio station KXAR plans a record auction to raise funds for the Hope Baseball Association on Saturday June 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. The schedule includes country gospel T Tommy Shows rock public service and jazz with a cleanup from 6:00 to 7:45 p.m. Auction chairman Ray Woodard will be assisted by parents and players who will deliver records in uniform to collect donations.

Former U S treasurer Ivy Priest dies at 69

Ivy Baker Priest, who served as the second woman U S treasurer from 1953 to 1961, died of cancer at 69 in Santa Monica California. Born in Utah, she later became California state treasurer in 1966 and was re elected in 1970. She advocated reduced government spending and modernized state bond sales.
