The Associated Press reports Arkansas will stay hot with highs in the 90s through Saturday and into Sunday Tuesday. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected today and Saturday with little relief anticipated.

AARP, founded in 1958, is the nation’s largest group assisting older citizens toward retirement with dignity and independence.
In Little Rock, AP reports pressmen at the Arkansas Democrat walked off the job this morning. Publisher Walter E. Hussman Jr. said the paper would continue to publish. Over 20 picketers protested outside the Democrat, carrying signs that the paper is not bargaining in good faith. The striking workers belong to local 59 of the International Printing, Communications and Graphics Union, with about 10 press operators at the paper. Strike captain Bill Bailey noted the contract expired September 30. Hussman said new owners Little Rock Newspapers, Inc., informed the union they would not honor the old contract when they took control in March 1974.

The body of Troy Martin, 52, a Concord realtor, was found in a wooded area about one mile from his house on Jamestown Mountain near Batesville, inde pendence County. Sheriff Walker Wood said Martin had been shot with what appeared to be a shotgun or high-powered rifle.
