Revenue Dept Passes Rehearing in Tax Case
LITTLE ROCK RP State Revenue Commissioner Bob K Scott said Tuesday the department will not seek a rehearing of the state Supreme Court ruling that the real estate transfer tax is unconstitutional. He noted that the Arkansas Children's Colony and the Parks Recreation and Travel Commission may ask for a rehearing as they benefited from the tax. The department will not refund interest on transfer taxes already collected and held in escrow, which by July would total about 45000 dollars, while the state will refund about 1.7 million.
