Thomas Arthur Porterfield aged 71 died at his Nashville Arkansas home Saturday. Born March 27 1904 in Mason Arkansas he was a Baptist church member and retired rancher. Funeral services were Monday at Latimer Funeral Chapel with Rev Webb Stuckey and Bean officiating. Burial in Restland Cemetery under Latimer Funeral Service. Survivors include wife Obie Ayers Porterfield and three sons Thomas.

Murder plot uncovered in Mobutu assassination bid
A plot by Zaireans and black Americans to assassinate Mobutu was uncovered and several generals among the arrest. Americans were said to be armed with high power rifles with telescopic sights for the liquidation of Mobutu and collaborators. The semi official Elima did not specify when or where the plot would occur. The report lists multiple Porterfields and other individuals among those implicated.

The Bloodmobile will be at the First Baptist Church Youth fellowship hall corner of Third and Walnut in Hope today and tomorrow June 16 and 17 from 12 noon to 6 pm each day.
