The Associated Press reports widely scattered showers in Arkansas should end today as a cold front moves into western Arkansas. Cooler, drier air follows, ending the precipitation that has plagued the state for days. A few scattered showers remain as the system clears.
Thunderstorms expected ahead of a front with a cooling Northwest shift. Tonight through Thursday will be mostly fair with unseasonably cool highs in the low 70s to near 80s and lows in the low 50s to 60s. Extended outlook: a chance of showers Friday, then dry Saturday and Sunday with cooling trend.
Jimmy Wilson a 24 year old from Murfreesboro was injured Friday when his 255 cc Yamaha left a 15 foot drop at the Narrows Dam area. Found by park workers he was treated at Pike County Hospital then moved to St Josephs in Hot Springs with serious facial fractures a punctured lung multiple broken ribs and a broken pelvis. The crash occurred on Cowhide Cove Road around 3 30 a m. Friday.
The Rev Robert L Hyatt, born in Monticello and raised in Hope, will serve as guest minister this Sunday at First Presbyterian Church. He has served with Dr Stephen Cook former pastor here, led the Ashdown church, and was an associate minister in education at Longview First Presbyterian. He studied at the University of Arkansas and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond Virginia.
Levi Hostetler, ordained Amish Mennonite minister now in Nashville, spoke to the Kiwanis at Town and Country Restaurant led by Roy Taylor. He outlined church history from Menno Simons to Jacob Ammann, clarified practices, schooling, and openness to public life, and shared moving personal notes about moving to Arkansas and adapting locally.
Fenny Robinson 7 died at a local hospital Tue. He was a retired carpenter and Unity Baptist Church member. Survivors include wife Pearl and eight daughters. Funeral 2 p.m. Thu at Herndon Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Renshaw and Rev. Jones officiating. Burial Memory Gardens. Sam Bass Graham 87 died at home in Prescott Mon. Longtime Nevada County resident and former poa en. Survivors include wife, two daughters, one sister, 23 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Thu at Nubbin Hill church near Prescott, burial Nubbin Hill cemetery. A C Bright 67 funeral 2 p.m. Wed at Herndon Funeral Home, Harmony cemetery. Ida W. Cannon 90, widow of U S Rep Clarence A. Cannon, dies at St Louis home. Democratic former House member from Missouri’s 9th District served 1999–1964.
