Testimony heard in Stroud murder trial

In Clarendon Arkansas defense testimony opened in the first degree murder trial of Gerald Stroud 53 of Lonoke for the shooting death of neighbor John Wayne Cook 37 at Cook farm July 17 1976. Strouds son Jerry testified seeing two men in a shed with one pointing toward his father and hearing a gun report. Jim Cook testified he fired at Stroud four times after his brother was killed. Strouds lawyer Jack Leasenberry did not deny the shooting but cited crop and chemical damage from aerial spraying and a land dispute between the families.
