Blockade May Be Dampening Enemy Fire
AP reports that following Nixon’s May 8 blockade order to seal North Vietnam from outside supplies, signs point to reduced enemy fire. Indicators include a drop in An Loc shelling, fewer SAM firings to U S planes, and tightened supply flows down to the Panhandle, possibly delaying a Hue attack. United States forces intensified strikes on railroads, ports, and industrial targets across North Vietnam.
