Writer recalls Lily Tomlin pranks from Hutchins days
EVELYN AUGUST recalls Lily Tomlin as a tomboy at Hutchins Intermediate, her prank with Susie involving Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, and how a $900 residual check helped launch her career. The piece covers Tomlin’s Detroit coffeehouse years, NY television break, and later Grammy win with reflections on family, love, and stage persona.
