ESD workers cited in Faubus fundraising case trial
Five Employment Security Division employees faced federal Hatch Act charges over alleged political fund drives for Gov. Orval Faubus. Testimony showed donations ranging from 25 to 50 dollars by eight workers, with defense claiming gifts were voluntary. Witnesses described supervisors routing funds to John Bull and others, while several employees admitted collecting money but denying coercion. The case hinges on whether the donations violated federal rules, with a final decision pending record review and Civil Service Commission review.
