An earthquake near Mena Arkansas was recorded at about 3.8 on the Richter scale by St Louis University. No injuries reported. One homeowner reported two hairline cracks in his house. The National Weather Service said the tremor occurred at 6 10 p m and lasted five to ten seconds. Felt mainly in Polk County and as far west as Zaphria Oklo.
The Arkansas Health Department reports over 530 people bitten by animals with rabies or suspected rabies. Dr. Harvie R. Ellis notes incidents ahead of last year’s count. Samuel A. Cammarata, 47, of Houston, fired during a scuffle at Memphis International Airport and is charged with assault with intent to murder and carrying a pistol. A bystander was lightly injured by a stray bullet fragment. Three other men charged with assault and battery. Cammarata released on bond and due in City Court Monday.
