Pam Ogborn, 22, of Clarksville was chosen by the Johnson County Peach Festival Board to reign as Queen Elberta XXXI for the year. She replaces Mary Davis who declined to enter the Miss Arkansas contest. First runner up last year, Ogborn will represent Clarksville in the Miss Arkansas pageant.

A Wrightsville man, Charles Walker, was convicted in Circuit Court of felony murder for the 1970 robbery of a Little Rock liquor store in which Mary Elizabeth Sullivant was killed. The jury of six minutes recommended life imprisonment. The case included a voir dire of Walker's confession, deemed voluntary by Judge William J. Kirby.
The government sues Dr Earl E Evans and wife Mildred in U S District Court in Little Rock to satisfy three SBA promissory notes totaling 74785 75. Defendants include Moscow Development Corp Inc and financial lenders. The action seeks principal interest and mortgage foreclosure on 20 acres in Jefferson County securing the loans.
