City and County Clerks Attend Week-Long Training Workshop
Fayetteville Ark. municipal and county officials participate in a three year program at the University of Arkansas main campus. Two Escape From Jail At Blytheville
Two men escaped from the Mississippi County jail in Blytheville after overpowering a trusty. Sheriff George Ford Jr. said the suspects are Samuel James Thomas 19 of Florida and Roman Carter Jr. 25 of St. Louis. Carter is considered extremely dangerous and had been sentenced Friday to 15 years for armed robbery. Thomas was sentenced to three years for burglary and petty larceny. They fled via porch roof and leaped from a third story window after guards arrived. Both have prior criminal records.

Shreveport Man Shot During North Market Station Robbery
A 25 year old Black man was wounded in a shootout with Shreveport police after a robbery attempt at Rose Oil Station on North Market Street. The gunman fled after exchanging fire with attendant Clifford Stramatt and officers. He was found hiding near Finn Street and pistol recovered. He was treated and jailed.
