The National Weather Service forecasts scattered thunderstorms this afternoon mainly in the central and northern portions of Arkansas. Rain chances run about 40 percent in the north and 30 percent in the central region.
The Hope Star daily brief includes weather outlook with 20 percent rain chance in the southern region, thunderstorms possible today and Tuesday, followed by a extended thundershower chance through Friday. Representatives Maraziti Sandman and Mayne expressed mixed views on Nixon’s impeachment after the committee action. Sandman urged constitutional limits and predicted a slim House margin, while Maraziti warned of a close vote and Mayne cited the gravity of crimes by aides.

Many House Southern Democrats, key to Nixon’s defense, appear ready to back the three Judiciary Committee colleagues in the pro impeachment camp. Interviews with a dozen Southern Democrats show Nixon may hold about half of them, threatening to erode his southern support as Northern and Western Democrats rally for impeachment.
In Rome 100,000 doctors began a 48 hour general strike demanding hospital reform and new labor contracts. Hospitals face debt and cash flow problems, with some unable to pay salaries. Emergency services remained functioning as administrators cope with financial strain.
The Hope Junior Auxiliary plans a Voluntary Action Center to meet Hempstead County needs through volunteer service. Arkansas already has seventy counties with centers, and Hope members are contacting churches civic groups clubs and citizens to discuss the program. Funeral services are set for Billy Bright 43 in Lewisville with burial in Lewisville cemetery. Verna Leverett 69 of Hope buried at Marlbrook Cemetery after dying in a local hospital. Valdine Grigg of Hope buried at Corinth Cemetery with memorials to Cancer Society. Tributes note Tru man Bradley 69, Chicago broadcaster and actor, died after a long illness. Don McCafferty 53 head coach of the Detroit Lions died of an apparent heart attack in Pontiar Michigan. previously with Baltimore Colts and tied to Johnny Unitas situation.
