Anti Communist drive and Eisenhower campaign undercuts
The piece argues against the anti Communist scare urging restraint and defending the United Nations while warning that fear distorts patriotism. It notes Secretaries Marshall and United Nations officials denying rampant Communists and calls for unity and caution amid suspicions of strangers. It then analyzes the 1952 Eisenhower presidential surge, contrasting grassroots enthusiasm with professional political maneuvering and southern and northern factional aims.
