Clerk Reveals Unopposed Run Prompting Full Fees
The county clerk explains he will take the full statutory fee allowance in light of being unopposed for a second term. He says most fees are payable late in the year, leaving the first half of the year barely able to cover office expenses including a deputy’s salary. He notes taxes, delinquent land lists, poll books drive revenue, and that charging the full late-year fees would aid early-year operations. He mentions conflicts over who should issue the tax books and cites Crawford & Moses as recommended fee rates, while asserting probate fees align with the 1929 legislature.
