First Cavalry Lands Without Opposition

The First Cavalry division landed unopposed in Korea under Rear Adm. James H. Doyle, with all equipment and supplies ashore within 12 hours. The operation, the first U. S. amphibious assault of the campaign, began with speed and secrecy, bolstering American and South Korean defense as forces move south. Correspondents accompanied the convoy but many left after no imminent contact appeared. Local, state and federal governments fund most elementary and secondary schools in the United States.
