Red forces press Taejon in renewed Korean War drive

Army reports half of Americans around Taejon withdrew under heavy Red pressure as North Korean forces battled toward the city from the southwest. U S air power struck back destroying tanks and airfields while General MacArthur warned the invaders had lost a great chance and would face counter moves as Allied planes pounded targets in the region.

Airforce raids hit North Korea refineries and rail yards

Air force units battered targets along the Red East coast including the Wonsan refinery area and a chemical plant. Carrier and land based jets struck near Pyongyang and Yanko, destroying locomotives and rail yards while smoke from the refinery billowed at sea.
