New Blood Test Detects Cancer Nationwide
Paris July 18 A new blood test showed near perfect accuracy in detecting cancer in humans according to three Geneva physicians reporting at an international cancer research congress. The test uses a pentose sugar breakdown by cancerous blood and was tested on 200 cancer patients with a 95 percent accuracy, improved versions approaching 100 percent, and 42 of 44 healthy individuals yielding negative results. The study also noted rat experiments showing the sugar destroying chemical appeared with cancer. Also described was a new injection technique delivering high drug doses directly to tumors via arteries using hollow tubes reaching up to five feet.
