State Sen. J Emory Cross of Gainesville asked the Senate Rules Committee for priority on a bill creating special autocense plates for legislators. Cross wants tag 007 after the James Bond hero. Sen Elmer Friday of Fort Myers warned Cross: Tha girls don't go with it.

Arkansas teachers exceed national bachelor degree rate
State Education Commissioner A W Ford said Arkansas now has about 97 percent of teachers with bachelor degrees, higher than the 93 percent national average. He noted the certification cutoff in 1963 and projected full bachelor degree coverage within years. About 21 percent hold master's degrees, near the national 23 percent. The report also notes the term horsepower was coined by James Watt.
