Industrial tour heralds postwar boom in Arkansas

Bombing Blitz Pounds Munda and New Guinea Bases

Allied air forces pounded Munda in the Solomons and other targets in New Guinea as storms hampered raids. More than 176 tons hit Munda with several fires, nine enemy fighters shot down, and Liberators and Flying Fortresses struck Kahili and Vunakanau. Ground advances near Munda reported three miles distant. two Allied planes missing.

Gas Cleaning Plant Starts Production in Magnolia Area

Announcement says Columbia gas cleaning plant, Arkansas Fuel Oil Company operation, began production eight miles south of Magnolia. McKamie Gas Cleaning Company also started production in one unit near Magnolia. The plant desulphurizes sour gas to remove sulphur content.

Verrazzano First to See New Jersey Shores

The source states Giovanni da Verrazzano, a Florentine navigator in French service, was the first white man said to sight New Jersey shores, nearly a century before Henry Hudson’s Dutch voyage up the river named for him.

Air Bus Lines Planned After War T

Air buses will link major Arkansas cities with transcontinental routes if Southwestern Greyhound lines' postwar plans succeed.
