July Weather in Arkansas Looks Like Previous Days

The Fourth of July in Arkansas will be warm and humid with a chance of scattered thundershowers. The National Weather Service lists a 20 percent statewide chance of rain Friday and a 40 percent chance in the southwest today, with additional rain chances across the state.

Hospital workers vote to strike in Memphis area

About 600 union members at three Memphis hospitals approved a strike after city and hospital officials failed to reach a new contract. The walkout would affect City of Memphis Hospital Shelby County Hospital and Oakville Memorial Hospital pending mediator led talks. Local 1733 represents thousands of city workers and hospital staff amid claims of bad faith bargaining.

Cemetery funds and 4H results noted

Contributions for Bright Star Cemetery may be sent to Johnny Thompson Rt. 1 Washington 71862. Southwest District 4H O Bama at Southern State College drew 475 entries from 10 counties in Southwest Arkansas in Tuesday contests across 33 divisions with state O Rama bids set for August 21 at University of Central Arkansas. Several counties represented include Miller Lafayette Columbia Union Calhoun Quachita Nevada Hempstead Little River Dallas. One thousand four hundred eighty students completed spring quarter work at Ball State University with Michael D. Potter among local grads. The Progressive Young Black Women plan worship on Sunday July 6 at 11 a.m. at Church of God in Clow Ark led by Rev. Saddlewhite.
