Campaign fund suit dismissed in Arkansas
A Crawford County Circuit Court suit accusing Gov. Dale Bumpers and two others of soliciting campaign funds in 1970 to drop federal charges against Bernie Gaer was dismissed. Gaer, acting as his own attorney, had named Archie Schaffer and state Sen. Ben Allen, four days before the May 28 Democratic primary. Judge Partain noted Gaer sought 2000 dollars and that the case should be filed in the county of the defendants.
