The Rev Ralph Abernathy and Hosea Williams are named among others on the list.
Five hundred potential jurors report as jury selection begins in the murder trial of 18 year old Elmer Wayne Henley. Judge Preston Dial aims to seat a jury by Wednesday and start testimony next week. Defense seeks delays or a venue change citing publicity.
In Port Chester New York a nightclub fire at Gulliver's Restaurant killed 24 young people and injured many. Witnesses described heavy smoke disorienting patrons as they crawled toward stairways. Westchester officials ordered a full investigation into the blaze blamed on a store fire feeding the discotheque.
