Arkansas eyes AP&L White Bluff plant site near Redfield

State officials expect a decision on locating a coal powered generating station on the Arkansas River near Redfield. The Public Service Commission has not approved the project. Environmentalists question need and warn of air water and soil pollution. Gov. Bumpers was optimistic about attracting the plant. An AIDC spokesman said site selection should wrap up in a month.

Fincher and Mitchell Funeral Services Reported

Funeral services were held for Aubrey Fincher 68 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. Fincher died unexpectedly at home. Survivors include son LaVerne Fincher of Waco, a step-daughter, sister and brother in law, and two grandsons. Tyrone Anthony Mitchell 12 will be buried in Milwaukee after a fatal car crash. He is survived by father William Mitchell Jr. and mother Juanita Mitchell, grandparents and four sisters. The service will be attended by the boy’s father and his aunt and uncle Ernest Lee Greene and wife.
