The Associated Press reports a stable weather pattern for the next few days with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures today and Thursday. Tonight looks fair with cool temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
The Hope Star from January 30 1974 includes weather briefing noting a high pressure system across the south and a cold front moving into Arkansas late Thursday with no precipitation expected. It lists regional overnight lows and several city temperature readings, plus editorial staff credits and circulation notices.
Washington sources say 142 Arab military pilots and technicians from Saudi Arabia Morocco Tunisia Lebanon and Jordan are being trained in the United States. Saudi Arabia has 41 trainees, Iran supplies 176 air crewmen and 662 technicians. no Israeli personnel are trained by the Air Force, though six learn about weapons from U.S. contractors.
Hempstead County Rescue Unit members spoke at the Hope Lions luncheon about services they provide including auto crash extrication, locating missing persons, recovering drowning victims, first aid training and water safety, plus civil defense and disaster relief efforts. They outlined equipment needs and invited new volunteers while noting 1973 calls and activities.
Charles W. Albritton is appointed area livestock specialist serving Hempstead Lafayette Little River Miller and Nevada Counties with the Cooperative Extension Service. He transfers from Drew County to headquarter in Hope and work with agents to develop livestock production and marketing programs. He holds a BS and MS from the University of Arkansas and has a long Extension Service background.

Roy P Allen 59 of Prescott dies in Prescott hospital survived by wife Inez Roark Allen a son Roy E Allen a daughter Nelda Marlar and four grandchildren. Independent truckers and the Overdrive group planned a nationwide shutdown to address soaring fuel costs. Protests and threats of violence curtailed fuel deliveries in eastern Ohio and along the Ohio West Virginia border. A 12 year old boy Tyrone Anthony Mitchell died in a Milwaukee car crash. funeral services set for Friday in Milwaukee with his father and relatives attending.
Lawrence Hutson is named head football coach and athletic director at Hope High School. A native of Arkansas, Hutson currently coaches at Permian High School in Odessa Texas and has a 57 10 junior varsity record, three year Permian tenure with a 33 3 mark, and state titles within the program. He will begin March 1, is 33, married with two children, and Mrs Hutson will teach next year in Hope.
