Weather Outlook for Arkansas Pend Saturday

The Associated Press reports precipitation and a new low pressure wave developing overnight. The National Weather Service expects a second wave to move northeast, bringing back moisture into Arkansas by Saturday, increasing chances of rain.

Rain ends Saturday with slightly cooler readings Saturday. Highs today in the low 50s, Saturday upper 40s to low 50s. Overnight lows 30s to mid 40s with city readings from Pine Bluff to Fort Smith. Rainfall last 24 hours ranged to .24 at El Dorado and .01 at Memphis.

Troop 91 Camps on Rich Mountain Pass

Scout Troop 91 camped last weekend at Rich Mountain with 22 boys led by Scoutmaster Olen Overturf and Asst. Scoutmaster J.W. Rowe. They hiked 10 miles round trip, practiced cooking, hiking, fire building, tent pitching, and other basic Scout skills, with church services held on the mountain.

Hope High School Musicians Land All Region Honors

Thirty five Hope High School band members earned region III all region band spots after Saturday tryouts with 500 competitors from 20 Southwest Arkansas bands. Researchers report marijuana products accumulate in germ cells of testes and ovaries raising concern about potential effects on offspring. Latty Patterson Named to Arkansas Juvenile Justice Panel

Latty Patterson of Hope has been appointed to the Arkansas Juvenile Justice Institute Code Revision Committee. The 25 member panel from across the state will revise Statute 45 the Juvenile Code with three subcommittees and a chaired overall committee. The first meeting occurred January 23 at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Little Rock.
