The Associated Press reports precipitation and a new low pressure wave developing overnight. The National Weather Service expects a second wave to move northeast, bringing back moisture into Arkansas by Saturday, increasing chances of rain.
The forecast calls for rain and a few thundershowers likely again in the southeast today. Occasional rain and scattered thundershowers tonight mainly in the southeast. Rain ends Saturday with slightly cooler readings Saturday. Highs today in the low 50s, Saturday upper 40s to low 50s. Overnight lows 30s to mid 40s with city readings from Pine Bluff to Fort Smith. Rainfall last 24 hours ranged to .24 at El Dorado and .01 at Memphis.

Scout Troop 91 camped last weekend at Rich Mountain with 22 boys led by Scoutmaster Olen Overturf and Asst. Scoutmaster J.W. Rowe. They hiked 10 miles round trip, practiced cooking, hiking, fire building, tent pitching, and other basic Scout skills, with church services held on the mountain.

Researchers report marijuana products accumulate in germ cells of testes and ovaries raising concern about potential effects on offspring. The study, described in Science, used TF lymphocytes from marijuana users and nonusers to compare immune cells, amid other test-tube observations. Separately, George Perdon began a 3,000 mile jog from Perth to Sydney, rehilling shoes every 20 miles due to a shuffling gait.

Funeral services for Herbert V. Keith 68 were held at Unity Methodist Church near Taylor Arkansas with burial in Sherman Cemetery. Sutton 61 died in a Little Rock veterans hospital. he was a World War II veteran and Bruner Ivory Handle Co. retiree. Funeral services set for Saturday 2 p.m. in Herndon Chapel with burial in Belton Cemetery near McCaskill. Survivors include wife Charlene and son Louis C. Sutton Jr. plus four sisters and three grandsons.
Latty Patterson of Hope has been appointed to the Arkansas Juvenile Justice Institute Code Revision Committee. The 25 member panel from across the state will revise Statute 45 the Juvenile Code with three subcommittees and a chaired overall committee. The first meeting occurred January 23 at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Little Rock.
Federal State Livestock Market News Service notes 639 receipts in Hope, up from 476 last week. Slaughter cows mostly 1.00-1.25 lower, feeders 1.00-2.00 lower. Feeder weights under 350 lbs down 1.00-2.00, over 350 lbs steady. Cattle mix includes utility and commercial cows 29.00-32.00, cutter 24.50-29.75, canner 18.00-23.50. Feeder steers and heifers show varied softer, with replacement cows 32.25-38.00 per cwt and cow-calf pairs 480.00-580.00 per pair.
