A large fire on Saturday night gutted the top floors of a downtown three story building in Little Rock. Fire Chief Gann Nalley estimated damage at 300000 dollars, with most loss on the top floor housing Blass department store. Ground floor suffered smoke and water damage as flames raged for about two hours before being brought under control. Small smolders emerged Sunday as crews sprayed thousands of gallons of water into the ruins.

Two Killed as Navy Plane Crashes in Murky Landing
In Toledo Ohio a twin engine Navy plane crashed during an attempted landing near Municipal Airport in fog and snow. Killed were chief machinist James William Murphy, 20, of Jersey City and aviation machinist mate Charles Adrian Tavan, 27, of Sulphur Louisiana. Pilot Lt Louis D.
