House blaze investigated at Park Drive residence

Investigation continues into the house fire at 1118 Park Drive Saturday night. Hope firemen spent two hours controlling the blaze. Assistant Fire Chief Joe Don Webb said the alarm rang at 10 p.m. Rocky Biddle occupied the home and a late model car on the premises was burned. Fire damage was considerable.

Khmer Rouge seize Mekong island near Phnom Penh

Khmer Rouge forces captured Okaha Tei island in the Mekong seven miles north of Phnom Penh threatening the naval base at the Mekong Tonle Sap junction. About 100 insurgents drove government troops from the island. refugees fled across the river as 500 troops tried to recapture. Rockets hit central Phnom Penh and the airport area, killing civilians and wounding others.

Suspect Charged in Nurse's Slaying in Leonia Park

Philadelphia shoe repairman Joseph Kallinger, 39, is planned to be charged with murder in the Jan. 8 killing of Maria Fasching, 21, in Leonia New Jersey. A blood stained shirt found in a park linked to Kallinger via a laundry mark. Police say he, aided by his 13 year old son Michael, likely attacked Fasching after she refused a sex act.

Mackey verdict reversed by Arkansas Supreme Court

The Arkansas Supreme Court split 4 to 3 reversing the Pulaski County judge B Frank Mackey on four counts of violating the county purchasing act.
