Suspect Connors linked to Black Dahlia case in LA
In Los Angeles on January 13 1987 Jeff Connors real name Orry Lane Jr was ordered reh ordered rehere today as a prime suspect in the Black Dahlia murder. Police dismissed FBI claims he was with dancer Eyane the night of the slaying. Connors who claimed to be a writer but sold cosmetics was picked up near San Francisco by Los Angeles detectives. He admitted seeing Elizabeth Short in a LA bar the night before the murder but offered an elaborate alibi and claimed he was married to Miss Evans, a co defendant with Robert Mitchum in a separate case. Evans said she never knew Connors prior to months after the crime. Columbia Studio officials and union groups found no record of Connors working in film. Capt. William Bradley said Dillon the other figure in the case was released for lack of evidence. Dillon had claimed a connection to Connors who could be a figment of his imagination. He vowed to consult his attorney before deciding on legal action. The piece notes there are over 500 covered bridges.
