City Board outlines third year CD program in Hope

The Hope City Board re-elected Mel Thrash as mayor and Charles Jester as vice mayor. The board heard a presentation on year three of the Community Development Program with sewer projects for Hilltop and Hopewell and street improvements on Hervey Walker Grady and Mockingbird Lane. CD funds include park work and management, with a May 16 start date and a $60,000 matching fund plan with the Arkansas Highway Department. Two Burglaries Booked Against Wright and Kendrick

A second burglary charge is expected to be filed against John D. Wright aged 25 of Blevins and Autrey Kendrick aged 40 of Hope. A first burglary and theft charge was filed Wednesday morning after their arrest earlier in the week. The charges relate to a break in at Emerson Stuart Place per Hope Police Department spokesman.

Hempstead County Court Schedules Ten Criminal Trials

Hempstead County Circuit Court opens next Monday with ten criminal jury trials and 13 civil trials. New prosecutors Jim Gunter and Charles Walker lead the docket with cases including State of Arkansas against Alice Rogers for first degree battery and a burglary/ theft series, plus civil non jury matters involving Interstate Electric Company and others.
