Texarkana Shooting Kills Three Including Estranged Wife

Police investigated a weekend shooting in Texarkana Arkansas that killed three people Joe Morgan his estranged wife Jessie 34 and family friend J W Wells 48. Morgan died Sunday from gunshot wounds suffered Saturday Wells and Mrs Morgan died Saturday. Morgan reportedly shot Wells on the front lawn then killed his wife and turned the gun on himself as officers say six Morgan children were in the house.

Mrs. Mary C. Smith 62 of Hope died in a local hospital. She was an LPN at Hempstead County Memorial Hospital and a Unity Baptist Church member. Survived by husband Allen, son Raymond, brother R.E. Cornelius, and two grandchildren. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Herndon Funeral Chapel, burial Shower Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Virginia Wilson Muncey 87 died in a nursing home in Hope. She attended the First Pentecostal Church of Hope. Survived by son Charles Morris, daughters Glendean Lively and others, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and siblings. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Herndon Funeral Chapel, burial Rose Hill. Mrs. Velle Jones of Emmet, Ark., died, funeral 3 p.m. Monday at Emmet First Methodist Church, burial Snell Cemetery. Survivors include three sons, two daughters, a brother, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.

McClellan to address Spa City conference

U S Senator John L Mc Clellan will speak at the Arkansas Cooperative Conference in Hot Springs Tuesday night January 8, delivering a banquet address mid point of the two day meeting.
