Warner Bros presents Smart Girls Don't Talk starring Mayo and Bruce Bennett as part of the Saenger anniversary celebration. The program recalls classic action dramas with stars like Bogart and Robinson, and features Robert Hutton in a departure role as a ruthless gambler.
Widespread damage from a twister struck Warren causing multiple deaths and heavy injuries. Rescue efforts continued through the night with ambulances shuttling victims between Pine Bluff and Monticello hospitals as crews from Arkansas and Louisiana aided. Nationwide reliefs mobilized, with the Red Cross, National Guard, and navy support. evacuations and road closures followed, while the weather shifted to colder conditions across the plains and Midwest, with heavy snow and rain in several states.
Tornado roared through two state area near El Dorado and Warren Arkansas, injuring two people and damaging Lumber Co mill and housing. Fires followed, utilities cut, and emergency crews searched wrecked communities amid hail and high winds.

Mrs. Addie M. Loe aged 62 died at her home near Prescott. She was wife of J. H. Loe and survived by three sons Morris and Jewel of Prescott Emmet of Memphis a daughter Eda Loe of Prescott three brothers John Morris Green ville Leonard Malvern Isaac Prescott and a sister Dolly Stovall Prescott. Funeral services will be held at Sweet Home Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Arkansas Power and Light plans a 15 million cubic foot steam generating plant on a 300 acre site near the L Anguille River five miles west of Forrest City. The project includes 35 million cubic feet daily gas needs, a future pipeline, and a lease of Forrest City’s municipal light plant with an annual rental around 2 1/600.

The Moscow daily Pravda charged President Truman with lying about Soviet fulfillment of Yalta and Potsdam, disputing his Kan sas City speech claim that the USSR had not honored agreements. It called U.S. Ruhr control decisions illegal and noted Russia’s exclusion from Ruhr talks.
Weather radio operators across Arkansas turned off their rigs after nearly 20 hours of emergency communications into Warren tornage during a storm. Hundreds of friends and relatives pledged support as the state devises to persuade lawmakers faced protests over union bars. ATl President William Green and other union leaders avoided comment on the Supreme Court ruling.
Unable to contact Warren officials, local radio amateurs and emergency networks sprang into action. The American Radio Relay League emergency net, led by VI Brians of Curlisley Ark, coordinated traffic with the Civil Air Patrol and U S naval reserve. Franklin Burt, a Little Rock naval reservist, helped operate portable stations on the courthouse square at Warren within hours of the tornado. Little Rock radio club members joined Warren to run the station, while Pemberton McRae and CAP operators staffed CAP and other amateur stations locally.
McRae stated reports would take several days to compile while hundreds of messages were handled. At the turn of the 20th century ice hockey was 80 popular in England and regarded as a national pastime.
