Four U.S. Phantom jets flew as North and South Korean fighters engaged offshore south of the demarcation line. A 50 ton NK boat sank after colliding with a South Korean naval vessel as NK ships pressed south of the line. NK claims the sinking was deliberate. South Korea says the boat was an armed spy ship. air and sea units were alerted but no US involvement in the pursuit is confirmed.
