Late Thursday the senate approved Senate Bill No 19 by Norrell authorizing banks to accumulate a surplus equal to capital stock and to invest it in bonds in a trust fund to cover insolvency. adopted 21 to 7 after earlier defeat. Arkansas House also moved to establish machinery for ratifying or denying the 21st amendment, overriding the Anti-Saloon League objections.
Sam Harvel, aged resident of Battlefield in Hempstead County, died of pneumonia last Saturday at his home. He is survived by his widow and three sons John Finas and Phil Harvel.
Bennett Griffin and James Mattern plan a round the world flight in the Century of Progress. The aircraft sits at Floyd Bennett Field for a full rebuild. The pair previously completed a non stop North America to Berlin flight last Summer.

Washington lawmakers moved to impeach Federal Judge Harold Lauderbach of California. A Havana dispatch reports Cuba marked its independence with a string of bombings ending as a railroad bridge in Camaguey province was blown up. In Roanoke three youths facing extortion charges involving Sol Lindbergh were bound over to a July 3 federal grand jury.
Coach Teddy Jones and seven Bobcat players depart for Magnolia to compete in the District 10 A A A senior boys tournament with 28 teams. The 10th district includes Columbia Lafayette Miller Hempstead and Pike counties and the first two teams advance to the state tourney in Hot Springs on March 19 and 21.
Los Angeles district attorney Baron Fitts announced an exhaustive, quietly conducted inquiry into Paul Bern’s death. The investigation centered on a diary note claiming self reproach and a two sentence message allegedly written by Bern intended for Jean Harlow. Bern’s body was found in his Beverly Hills home closet with a pistol and a fatal gunshot wound.

Funeral services for Mrs. John R. Malone who died at her home at 523 North Main Street were held Friday at 2 30 p m from the family residence. The Rev. Wallace R. Rogers officiated and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. She died at 76 after a long illness and is survived by two daughters Mrs Ella Wolfington of Washington D C and Mrs Callie Keen of this city and a number of grandchildren.

He labeled the system the Spider Web of Wall Street and urged government action to take profits above a fair return for public use. Senator Logan proposed seizing industry profits for public benefit.
The Italian government offers five free scholarships at the Royal Aviation Academy of Caserta to Italian youths living abroad. The award commemorates the 1931 flight of the fleet from Italy to Brazil, with consular officials handling the arrangements.
Miami physicians report mayor Anton Cermak showing signs of heart failure and pulmonary congestion after lengthy efforts to treat him. They describe hypostatic lung condition and continued critical condition Friday morning.
