He graduated from Arkansas A&M and University of Arkansas Medical School and held multiple medical certifications. Survivors include wife Marietta Koonce Spring four children and relatives. Services were held Saturday in Vivian.

Residents returned to North Dallas homes after a propane tanker explosion on a Santa Fe freight train Sunday night. No injuries reported. Fire department spokesman Pete Nunez said every building within a half mile was damaged. Part of a warehouse collapsed and windows were blown out while investigators pursued a derailment theory.
