The Associated Press reports turbulent weather sweeping across Arkansas from the west to end in the east today. Thunderstorms arose from a low pressure system and an associated front, with activity moving out of the state by sunset in western Arkansas and progressing eastward.
Severe thunderstorm warnings covered several Arkansas counties but no severe weather was reported. Cooler nights with highs in the 50s and low 40s Friday. Overnight lows mid 30s north to mid 40s south. Rain totals: Pine Bluff 0.05, Texarkana 0.36, Fayetteville 0.28, Harrison trace, Little Rock 0.05, Fort Smith 0.52. Experimental station report: high 71, low 35, rainfall 0.37 inches.
Wednesday may bring freedom for Hearst as SLA timelines hinge on Friday food distribution. SLA initially demanded 70 dollars in free food per Californian, a cost state officials peg near 400 million. Hearst pressed ahead with a 2 million Peoples in Need gesture, with Bay Area distribution starting Friday under A Ludlow Kramer.

Errol Arledge Sr aged 55 died in a Little Rock VA hospital. Survivors include wife Velma Dean Arledge, two sons, a grandson and granddaughter, mother Zuma Featherston, three sisters, a brother, and many relatives. Funeral at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church burial Mt. Nebo cemetery. Bascom E Brockman, 77, died in a Lewisville hospital. Survivors include two sons Melton and Jack, two daughters, a sister, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and other relatives. Funeral at Corinth Baptist Church burial Falcon Cemetery.
Central Arkansas law officers said they partially solved a major burglary ring possibly recovering about 250000 dollars in merchandise. The thefts spanned central and north Arkansas with merchandise reportedly sold in Davies County Kentucky. Arrests included Ricky Leroy Harris and Bobby James Keathley, both of Jacksonville, tied to a break in at the Tanglewood Shopping Center in Little Rock.
Arkansas corrections officials report 1973 prison farming earned more than 3.2 million dollars, up from 1972, with Cummins and Tucker units producing 22236 bales of cotton, 206500 bushels of rice, and 73159 bushels of soybeans. Expenditures surpassed 1.1 million. The dairy supplied 79926 dollars worth of milk to the State Hospital in Little Rock in exchange for inmate medical care.
