Giusepp e Zangara pleaded guilty to four counts of assault with intent to murder for attempting to kill Roosevelt and was sentenced to 80 years. He said he came from Italy and acted because he felt harmed by capitalists. He claimed he missed Cermak as someone moved his arms. Mayor Cermak and Mrs. Gill were wounded. Cermak recovering and Mrs. Gill improving per physicians.
Union Center defeated Walkerville 36 to 22 to capture the Arkansas District No. 10 junior basketball title. McNeill lost the runner-up spot to Walkerville. Union Center advances to Pine Bluff for the state junior title in early March, among 17 teams from eight counties.
R D Smith 40 of Sutton Nevada County died at his home from brain infection after shotgun wounds allegedly fired by Henry White last January 7 at a schoolhouse. White claimed accident and was discharged. murder charges expected after Smith's death. Survived by widow and three children. Funeral held at Sutton.
Autrey Fairchilds driven away in James Meatmerket's Ford sedan near East Third street. Officers chased him, catching him near South Walnut street. He waived preliminary hearing in municipal court and was bound over to the grand jury with bond set at 350 dollars.

The Arkansas House adopted without dissent a memorial urging President Roosevelt to strike former Governor Harvey Parnell from federal patronage. Voted by viva voce, the measure labeled him head of the most corrupt state government since Reconstruction and ordered copies mailed to Roosevelt and DNC chair James A. Farley.
Three armed men halted at Fulton bridge at 2 45 am abducted toll keeper U E F Quin and robbed the cash register of 22 25 then forced Quin into their car and fled toward Hope. A chase extended toward Sprudell and back toward Fulton with officers recovering nine dollars near Sprudell and the abandoned Chevrolet. A second bandit raid on the bridge had occurred January 28. Sheriff Wilson and deputies aided by Texarkana officers and a Texas ranger pursued the suspects but yielded no further trace.
In Salt Lake City a young woman, parked on a slippery street, sprinkled salt from a bag in her car’s back seat under the wheels. After a short wait the salt took effect and she was able to move the vehicle.
Highway Commissioner J. S. Cargile visited the Hope district to inspect the limerock stretch of No. 67 between Emmet and Prescott. The group discussed repairs and possible resurfacing as the unpaved link remains a bottleneck in Arkansas routes Nos. 67 and 70.
A total of $35,241.75 is due from 29 sheriffs or former sheriffs in Arkansas, including Hempstead County Sheriff John L. Wilson, who owes $1,033.71. State Comptroller Griffin Smith is suing over automobile license collections from 1932 and prior balances from the Highway Department. Sheriff Wilson issues a statement noting a Gazette report of February 15 that he is reported short in dealings with the Highway Department.
A 26 year old negro named Lee Caper released in Los Angeles after fingerprints failed to match J C Banks sought in Arkansas for the murder of Mark W Goodson and the assault on Mrs Jerome May. He was taken near the Missouri Pacific depot while attempting to board a freight train and later identified as not Banks.
Alvin B. Schell at 102 years old says eat all you can hold and work as hard as you can. He and his wife, 30 years younger, plan to celebrate their golden wedding next summer.
