Mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago and Miami resident Mrs. Joe Gill who were shot during a Roosevelt event remained in stable condition Friday morning. Doctors said Cermak’s status was satisfactory with no complications while Mrs. Gill was holding her own.
In Miami Judge E C Collins postponed Giuseppe Zangara's arraignment until Saturday after a five minute session. Zangara 33 Italian faced charges of attempted assassination of President elect Roosevelt. Three defense attorneys were appointed and Zangara ordered jailed. Defense asked for sanity commission.
In Miami four charges of assault with intent to kill were filed against Giuseppe Zangara for shooting at President-elect Roosevelt and wounding five others. He refused legal aid, declaring the judge could do what he wanted. Mayor Anton Cermak of Chicago remained hospitalized after abdomen wounds, while Mrs. Joe H. Gill in Miami showed slight improvement and recognized family members.
William Anderson and Frank Rice gave fake names to police and were arrested with 17 others for drunkenness. The next morning the judge dismissed 18 cases, but Anderson and Rice’s aliases were forgotten and their cases stood.

A large truck struck a Dodge sedan carrying three Texarkana men on Fulton road near Sheppard about 7 pm Thursday. A. H. Little, 45, sustained a head injury and bruises and was taken to Josephine hospital. The Rev. Armstrong, pastor of the First Methodist church, rode with him and escaped injury. The other man was unharmed. identity not learned. The trio, en route home from a Rotary convention in Little Rock, was brought to Hope by a passing motorist and later boarded a train home.

The panel condemns Japan’s policy and calls for withdrawal of support for Manchukuo, the Japanese‑organized state replacing Chinese authorities on the Manchurian frontier.
Geneva report states Yosuke Matsuoka, Japan's representative, announced that Japan will not accept the League of Nations recommendations on the Manchurian dispute.
