Probe in Japan Blocked by State Dept Says Senator

Sen. Edward J. Gurney says the State Department blocked IRS tax investigations in Japan for over three years during the Vietnam troop buildup. He notes the ban, from July 1966 to October 1969, hindered probes into finances of Americans linked to U.S. service clubs in Vietnam. IRS now has three agents in South Vietnam amid ongoing corruption inquiries in military club funds such as slot machines and liquor purchases.

Mrs. WR Denies Reported Separation
