Rifleman weapon standoff wounds six police in New Rochelle

A gunman with an M16 fired at least six people including four officers at Neptune World Wide Moving in New Rochelle. He held a wounded hostage inside the warehouse and later from the roof as police cordoned off the area. Four Young Men Shot to Death in Hollandsburg Mobile Home

Four young men aged 14 to 22 were found shot to death in their Hollandsburg mobile home by a rural Indiana lake area. Police say robbery was the motive. two suspects in a car were held for questioning. The stepmother, Mrs. Betty Spencer, 41, was wounded and in satisfactory condition.

Pentagon POW probe flawed says defense panel

A special Defense Review Committee faulted Pentagon officials for only minimal investigations into possible POW law violations by U S servicemen in North Vietnam. It said the dismissals of charges in 1973 were weakly supported and linked the lapses to Defense Department policy guidance at the time. Hope man to be charged in Saturday shooting

Michael M. Davis 25 of Hope will be charged Monday afternoon in the shooting of Harold E. West 21 of Hope, according to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Charles Walker. Police and sheriff units responded to 917 West Sixth Street at 9 17 Saturday night. West was shot in the left hand and arm with a shotgun and taken to Hempstead County Hospital before transfer to a Little Rock hospital.
