Rain totals 8.49 inches over five days in Hempstead Arkansas

The University of Arkansas Experiment Station reports 8.49 inches of rainfall in five days ending yesterday. A 24 hour total reached 1.77 inches, with temperatures ranging from 29 to 59. Flooding occurred statewide but extensive damage was limited. a fire at the Emmet Thompson residence caused heavy damage to house and contents, likely from a faulty floor furnace.

Rotary honors longtime Hope club leaders

On February 10 the Hope Rotary Club marked its 47th anniversary. President George Peck presented a plaque to Ed McCorkle the club’s only active Charter Member a 46 year membership pin to Nick Jewell and a 45 year pin to Roy Anderson. He noted all three had served as club president and held key Rotary offices. Garland Medders then shared a National Electric Week film.

Legislature Works Through Fifth Week As Bills Stall

Woman Hurt in Accident Here Today

Mrs. Martha Stephenson suffered wrist, shoulder, and leg injuries in a three vehicle collision at Third and Walnut Streets. She was taken to a local hospital by Oakcrest Ambulance. Police said Stephenson’s car struck a parked Hawkins vehicle after colliding with a Pontiac truck driven by J Hanson of Pontiac Michigan. no charges reported.
