Arkansas Forecast Sees Cold, Snow Likely

Experiment Station report notes 24 hour period ending 7 am Monday with high 39 low 16 and 1 percent snow. Forecasts call for fair skies then much colder tonight and Tuesday with lows from zero to 8 below in the north and 5 to 16 above in the south. Highs Tuesday expected mainly in the 20s.

Four Charged With Drug Possession in Hot Springs Raid

AP report says four people were charged after a Saturday raid on a Hot Springs residence. About 6500 dollars worth of drugs were seized. Named suspects are John Woods, 60, and Helen Woods, 29, both Hot Springs residents, Silvester Weekley, 27, and Gloria Bradley, 22, both of Little Rock. Bonds were set at 5000 dollars each. Police said seven others were charged with accessory to possession of illegal drugs.

Conviction of Robbery Is Upheld by Arkansas Court

The Arkansas Supreme Court upheld Eddie Morris formerly Eddie Tate's robbery conviction and 7 to 21 year sentence for a 1969 Forrest City holdup in which store employee William F. Epps was stabbed. The court rejected 10 reversal arguments and also upheld Johnny Harper’s related seven year sentence. The ruling also affirmed Hallmark Loan & Investment Corp.’s certificate as an industrial loan company under Act 111 of 1941. Justice Byrd wrote the opinion.
