Gunmen aboard the Greek freighter Vori released the chief officer and chief engineer in Karachi after Greek authorities agreed to commute death sentences for two Palestinian terrorists. Fulbright urges quick Middle East settlement to avert recession

Feeder steers and heifers higher across weights, with feeder steers 250 to 550 pounds commonly 50 to 68 per hundredweight and feeders up to 64 dollars for light calves. Replacement cows and cow calf pairs also listed with prices from 35 to 510 dollars per pair on calves.

Osburn receives new assignment in urban transit planning

Berlie Osburn former Hope resident and senior resident engineer for the Palestine District of the Texas Highway Department is named to the Planning and Research Division in Austin. He starts February 1 and will work in urban transportation and mass transit planning after earning a 1948 Hope High School diploma and a 1957 civil engineering degree from the University of Arkansas before joining the Arkansas and Texas highway systems.

Teen jailed in Hindsville shooting death case

A 16-year-old boy was jailed in Madison County on suspicion of involvement in the Friday night shooting death of Lee Woodmansae aged about 49 near Hindsville. Marion Woodmansae, 51, her husband, suffered two gunshot wounds and was listed in satisfactory condition at Springdale Memorial Hospital. No charges had been filed by Sunday. The shooter used a .22 rifle on the woman and a deer rifle on the man, Sheriff Ralph Baker said.

He was born August 22 1887 in Ozan Arkansas a retired farmer and church member. Survivors include two nephews four nieces Ruby Delaney and Maggie Cowling. Funeral February 5 in Nashville with burial at Sardis Cemetery.
