A slow moving cold front moved out of Arkansas early today and cooler air was pushing in behind it. Rain ended in Arkansas with the passage of the front though isolated patches of drizzle remained in the mountains and northeast. Clouds were forecast to remain until late today and temperatures should not reach much.

Grace Baptist Church will host New Year’s Eve services starting at 8 p.m. with preaching singing and a testimony time. Refreshments will follow and pastor Richard Martin invites all to attend. Jes sie Wood 61 administrator of the Camden Social Services office was stabbed Monday afternoon during an altercation with a woman seeking food stamps. Wood was treated and released from a local hospital. Police said a suspect in custody would be charged with assault with intent to kill.
In Memphis finalists from 16 states compete to be named the 1976 Maid of Cotton. Entrants include Jane Fortenberry of Columbia Mississippi and Sue Groessema of Piru California, with Kathryn Tenkhoff of Sikeston Missouri to crown the winner. The new Maid will travel as the industry ambassador and attend the Cotton Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Bethel AME Church schedules Watch Meeting events from 7 to 11:30 PM with a gospel choir rehearsal at 7, organ selections including Finlandia and Auld Lang Syne, prayer at 9:30, and a final sermon by Dr. W G Wynn at 11:30 marking 1975 to 1976. Public invited to attend.
