The Associated Press reports Santa may have rough weather in Arkansas as the National Weather Service predicts mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and a few thundershowers. Locally heavy rain possible in eastern areas with showers likely in the far east.

In a Sunday night crash on U S 82 west of Muenster Texas two drivers died and ten others were injured, mostly seriously. Nancy Jane Johnson 32 of Lawton Oklahoma rode in the station wagon with her husband and children. Terry Howard 30 of Carrollton Texas was in the other car. Police say one car was passing a truck when the collision occurred. Injured were taken to hospitals in Muenster Gainesville Denton and Dallas including Bobby Lee Johnson 34 and the Johnson children Jelley 10 Cherry 12 and Bobby 6 and Craig Burroughs 50 and his wife Rosemary 96 of Harrison Arkansas and others from the two vehicles.
Second-year classes at Beryl Henry staged a Christmas program with What Is Christmas and a puppet play The Ugly Christmas Tree for parents while third-year groups visited the high school band. Garland and Paisley schools report festive decorations, crafts, carols, and student activities, including art projects, eye and ear testing, and Junior Auxiliary efforts.
Air Force Col. Dwight Sullivan, freed from a 61 year detainment in Vietnam, will celebrate Christmas at his parents' Des Moines home with his three teen sons. He recalls POW Christmases in Hanoi Hilton, where carols were sung, a bamboo pen tuned music, and prayer read from toilet paper notes.
